October 29, 2015 -- The SF State Foundation board and leadership continue to receive state and national recognition in the area socially responsible investing (SRI). On October 9, Foundation President Robert Nava served on a panel discussion about SRI at SOCAP 2015, a national conference on sustainability held in San Francisco and organized by Social Capital Markets. He spoke about aligning endowment investment practices with institutional mission, values and sustainability goals. The SF State Foundation is a leader in this area and serves as a model for other college and university foundations.
In his remarks, Nava provided an overview of the Foundation’s leadership and outlined the process that President Les Wong and the board established to move toward socially responsible investing. Nava spoke about the important, catalytic role SF State students played in working with the Foundation on fossil fuel divestment. The panel discussion included a broader conversation on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) integration, impact investing, and shareholder engagement.
