SF State President Les Wong, Chair of the CSU Board of Trustees Rebecca Eisen and CSU Chancellor Timothy White with SF State alumna and Foundation Board Director Neda Nobari (second from right), who received a special commendation.

CSU Chancellor Timothy White presented SF State Foundation director Neda Nobari with a commendation at the CSU Trustee meeting on February 1, 2017. The commendation noted Neda’s business success and support of San Francisco State University, her alma mater, as well as her personal experience as an immigrant from Iran, which inspires her passion for the study of the Iranian diaspora and the cultural identity of Iranian American Women.

The CSU trustees invited Neda to their first meeting of 2017 to speak about the ways in which her education at SF State influenced her life and about her inspiration for establishing the Neda Nobari Distinguished Chair and the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies at SF State last year. Her presentation was a featured part of the CSU Alumni Council report and underscored the impact of CSU alumni on our communities.
